Down Draft Exhaust Kit Instructions
NOTE 1: This kit could require you to provide additional parts depending on how you use it. If you intend to use this in addition to the standard exhaust port off of a single external inline fan, you will need to provide a "Y" hose adapter. Hoses and clamps are NOT included.
NOTE 2: Although you could use this by itself without the standard exhaust port, covering the entire honeycomb with a piece of material could block all of the paths of airflow for the lower exhaust. The best method is to use the original exhaust port combined with this kit for extracting smoke from above and below, with the majority of the airflow going down since the opening for the Down Draft Kit is larger.
Cutting the Mounting Plate
1. Download the digital cut files: Click here to download
2. Extract the DDK-Backplate.zip archive (zip file) to a folder.
3. Open the Backplate.xcs file in xTool Creative Space (XCS).
4. Select the design and ensure that the dimensions of the design are 244.5 W x 148 H (9.628" W x 5.827" H).
5. On the right side of XCS, select the appropriate thickness for the material you are using. You may want to use the Auto-measure button.
6. Adjust your settings if needed. The XCS file is set for a 10W machine cutting 3mm MDF. On the 10W M1, 3mm MDF cuts well at about 90% power, 4mm/s, 1 pass.
7. Cut Two copies of the design. You may wish to duplicate the design with Copy/Paste, or cut in two sessions.
Assembling the Down Draft Exhaust Kit
1. Insert the screws from the back side, placing the nuts on the inside. The thinner portion of the mounting plate goes toward the top.
2. Gently tighten the screws; these do not need to be very tight.
Installing onto the M1
1. Remove the M1 from the Riser base. Don't forget to unplug the electrical connections and the air assist hose if you have one.
2. Remove the rear light shield panel.
3. Slide the Down Draft Exhaust mount into the light shield panel slot.
4. Connect your 4" hose.
